MARY WATSON
Owner/STOTT PILATES Senior Instructor

Mary has been teaching exercise for 36 years. Her love of fitness began when she participated in her first aerobic class. In 1985 she was certified by the American College of Exercise (ACE) and began her career as a fitness instructor. A snow skiing accident in 1995 left her with two torn knee ligaments. She found Pilates to be the perfect rehabilitation, which led to her first STOTT PILATES Matwork and Reformer certification in 2001. Mary introduced the first Pilates classes in Kershaw County, and soon saw the need for an expanded Pilates program. In 2006 she received her STOTT PILATES Full Certification on all Pilates Apparatus for Essential, Intermediate and Advanced participants.

In 2011, Mary studied under Tom Myers of Kinesis INC. in Boston MA, and completed a 200-hour course “Body Language”. This extensive training certified her as a “Movement and Postural Analyst”.  Mary found that many clients suffer from soft tissue ailments, which are often the result of postural misalignments. Her training allows her to instruct her clients utilizing a protocol designed to help manage their issues.

In 2017, Mary had the opportunity to participate in a 5-day Fascial Dissection course held at the Laboratories of Anatomical Enlightenment, Inc. in Tempe, Arizona.  The course was led by Todd Garcia, owner and director of Anatomical Enlightenment, along with Tom Myers, author of Anatomy Trains and director of Kinesis, Inc.

Most recently, Mary completed a training program in Pittsburgh PA, where she studied disorders and diseases of the spine with Dr. Christine Romani-Ruby, creator of the YUR Back® Program.

Mary is also a certified Pink Ribbon Program Breast Cancer Specialist, Total Barre® Instructor, a certified Reiki Master, and a certified Intuitive Healer.
